Mediation Services
Parental Planning
The care of your children is one of the more crucial and difficult areas to work through. Don’t leave this to a judge and drag it through the courts. Allow us to coach you through a plan that can put you at ease and allow you to have more say in the decisions being made.
Whether you need to establish residency of a child during a divorce or resolving a child welfare dispute, we help you maintain control outside of the courts, helping to avoid extremely long and costly litigation processes.
Separation & Divorce
Going through a separation or divorce can be a highly stressful and emotional experience, resulting in reactionary decisions that draw out the process and increase the cost unnecessarily.
You are better able to have a say in the decisions being made. Courts are very time consuming and very expensive, and in the end you have no input when a judge is making the final decisions.
Having a mediator that is unbiased and is there to collaboratively assist both parties in reaching a fair agreement, allows for quicker resolution time through effective communication, and lowers the cost of lawyer fees by keeping meetings productive.
Multi Generational
Mediation is not just for separation and divorce. It is an effective way to settle any conflict you may have. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in developmental psychology I spent many years working with youth in a variety of capacities, from group homes to independent living homes. Once I left that career field, I maintained volunteering and casually working with youth, including assisting with adoption training and helping develop many youth programs.
With a few years in the mediation field and seeing the need now more than ever to assist teens and parents live more harmoniously I have decided to put these skills together and make this a focus of my practice.
Voice of the Child Reports
The Voice of the Child Reports are designed to allow the children of separating parents to have a say in their future. This is a non-evaluative report conducted by a Trained Practitioner. These reports can be requested by parents, lawyers, judges and other professionals. The purpose of a VCR is to assist in the resolution of parenting plans. The VCR may be requested at anytime throughout the process of litigation or dispute resolution. However; it is at the discretion of the VCR practitioner and child whether they are completed.
Other Family Conflicts
There are many reasons that families may be having conflict, from disbursement of family heirlooms, to financial struggles and pressures from work affecting home.
We can help ensure the parties affected can voice their concerns, worries and frustrations and help to bring resolve to the conflict at hand.
When emotions are high it is difficult to collaborate and get to the bottom of the issues. A mediator can coach the parties to see the most logical solutions available.
Prenuptial and Cohabitation Agreements
More people are getting married later in life, remarrying, and living common law.
This means many people are entering into relationships with more assets and liabilities. It’s not a popular approach to think of what happens if it doesn’t work; as no one wants to go into a relationship with that in mind; but the reality is we don’t know what the future holds.
By obtaining a Cohabitation agreement, you legally protect what is yours and do not take on the unwanted debts and responsibilities of your significant other.Preputial agreements are not just for the wealthy. Once you marry you take on the other person’s assets, debts, and potentially even children if there are any.
